Urze-rasteira (Erica maderensis)
Shrub creeper, highly branched, generally up to 1 m tall, or sometimes more. Leaves are linear and short (5-9 mm long), which is typical of many other species of the genus Erica. Flowers are generally arranged in terminal racemes, are pink and more or less tubular. Exclusive to the alpine regions of Madeira, where it appears mainly from 1,400-1,800 m, generally in small groups and alongside other plants characteristic of mountainous island areas. It is considered a rare species, with a rather restricted distribution area.
