Tortolhinha (Launaea picridioides)
Small herb, with a basal rosette producing stems up to 70 cm. Leaves are spathulate and pointed, up to 17 cm long and 2 cm wide, with uneven sinuate-dentate borders. Flowers are yellow and appear in clusters on the upper third of the stem. A native of Cape Verde, relegated to the islands of Santo Antão, São Vicente, São Nicolau and the islet of Branco. Mainly distributed from 200-900 m altitude, but it can grow at 1,400 m on Santo Antão. Not threatened on a global scale, hence its categorization as a low risk species.
