Selvageira, erva-branca (Sideritis candicans var. crassifolia)

Shrublet, less than 1 m tall, similar to the nominate species, although the leaves are smaller and shaped differently; leaves ovate or ovate-round, 2.5-4.5 cm long and 2-3.5 cm wide. Inflorescence dense, more pubescent, tighter and shorter than in the nominal species, but less branched. This plant is clearly very well-adapted to the more xeric habitats of Madeira. This endemic is exclusive to Ponta de São Lourenço, in the far eastern tip of Madeira, and the Desertas Islands, where it is mainly found in rocky areas.
