Pelotilla escamosa (Monanthes laxiflora)

Small, compact perennial shrublet, with woody branches, often hanging. Leaves are opposite, succulent, small, egg-shaped, green or greyish-green. Flowers are small, star-shaped, terminal, yellowish or pinkish-purple, inflorescence lax. Endemic to the Canary Islands and found throughout. This rocky plant can be locally abundant and generally grows on damp north-northwest-facing outcrops, between 200 and 1,200 m altitude. Characteristic of thermophile and evergreen forests.
