Patagallo canario, geranio de monte (Geranium reuteri)

Herb, up to 1 m tall, leaves peltate and broadly ovate, up to 8 cm in diameter, dark green and herbaceous. Flowers lilac or pink, with hooks, in umbelliform inflorescences. Endemic to the Canary Islands, found in the central and western islands (Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro). It mainly grows in humid zones of evergreen and fayal-brezal firetree and heath forests, generally between 500 and 1,000 m. It can be abundant in some areas, such as Garajonay National Park (La Gomera) and Anaga massif (Tenerife), but in Gran Canaria and El Hierro it is rare and highly localized.
