Pampilhos, malmequeres, estreleira (Argyranthemum pinnatifidum ssp. pinnatifidum)

A woody shrub that can reach 2 m, highly branched, with large leaves (7-22 x 2.5-10 cm), ovate or oblong-lanceolate, very irregular (pinnately lobed). Inflorescence dense, composed of up to 30 flower heads, with white ligules and a yellow centre. A native of Madeira, typical of wet evergreen forest, where it is locally rather common from 300-1,500 m. This species has two subspecies: A. montanum, exclusive to the peaks and ridges of Madeira, and A. succulentum, relegated to Ponta de São Lourenço and neighbouring islets.
