Murrião, perpétua (Helichrysum obconicum)
Woody shrublet, up to 60 cm tall, very branched and white-tomentose. Leaves are elliptic or obovate-lanceolate, 2.5-5 cm long and 0.8-2 cm wide; the floral head or capitulum is 4-6 mm wide and has yellowish, semi-globose flowers. Typical of coastal areas, fairly common along the northern and eastern flanks of the island. It often grows among halophytic vegetation along the shoreline, where it shows clear rupicolous tendencies. Another three native species of this genus—Helichrysum devium, H. melaleucum and H. monizii—can also be found in the archipelago of Madeira.
