Morgallana, bugallón, botón de oro (Ranunculus cortusifolius)

Herb, rather robust and downy, which grows up to 1 m. Basal leaves are subcoriaceous, orbicular, heart-shaped to reniform, generally large (up to 30 cm long), while the upper ones are smaller, lanceolate and entire. Flowers are brilliant bright yellow, occasionally with whitish spots on their petals. Native to Macaronesia and found throughout the Azores, Madeira and the Canaries. A typical feature of evergreen forests, although it usually grows in the thermophile and pine forests of the Canaries and mountainous areas of Madeira, up to 1,500 m above sea level. Generally very common, especially in the dampest areas of evergreen forests, whether on rocky or earthy slopes, or low-lying plains.
