Mata parda, corazoncillo de Arinaga (Lotus arinagensis)

Perennial, somewhat woody at the base, creeping or partially climbing plant (frequently twining round low shrubs). Branches and leaves are greyish-blue, trifoliate, very short and very downy. Flowers are yellow, borne singly or in groups of 2-3, always at the end of the branches. The legume is rather sinuate and contains blackish seeds. An endemic of Gran Canaria, more specifically of the eastern seaboard from Jinámar to Arinaga, where it is not abundant and is under threat from coastal degradation.
