Jasmineiro branco (Jasminum azoricum)
Perennial shrub, stems erect or intertwining with other plants. Leaves are opposite, trifoliate, dark green, subcoriaceous, with tiny leaflets ovate to ovate-lanceolate, up to 9 cm long and 5 cm wide. Flowers are white, fragrant and around 2 cm across. Despite its name, this wild jasmine is native to Madeira, where it is very rare and only located in a few rocky areas of the thermophile and evergreen regions in the south of the island, up to 1,200 m. It has considerable potential as an ornamental and is grown in some island gardens.
