Imperatoria (Imperatoria lowei)
Perennial herb, totally glabrous, up to 1.5 m. Leaves are dark green, rather glossy and divided, margins serrate and segments of 5-10 cm long and 4-7 cm wide. Flowers are numerous and small, whitish-green, arranged in umbels, which is typical of many other species of the family Apiaceae. A rare plant, characteristic of rocky patches of wet evergreen woodland and lower levels, found only on the island of Madeira. It often grows alongside the water channels that crisscross the island.
