Guaidil, chagil (Convolvulus floridus)

Evergreen or semi-deciduous shrub, up to 2-4 m tall. Leaves are lanceolate, oblong or oblong-linear, herbaceous or subcoriaceous, dark green to glaucous and up to 15 cm long. Inflorescences are apical, large and conspicuous, of numerous white or pinkish-white flowers, which give the plant a striking appearance, hence its appeal as a garden plant. This native of the Canary Islands has been recorded for all the islands, though it is rare and highly localized in Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. This species is a typical feature of lowland Euphorbia communities, and thermophile woodland and scrub, from sea level to 800 m, and can be very abundant in some areas.
