Funcho (Tornabenea humilis)

Small plant, perennial or biennial, erect, up to 40 cm tall. Stem branched from the base, leaves up to 30 cm long, subcoriaceous, pinnate, with 4-8 pinnae. Numerous white flowers, arranged in umbels. A native of Fogo (Cape Verde), where it grows from 50-500 m, on recent lava flows and rocky walls. It is relatively abundant in the north and east of Fogo, despite a restricted distribution area. The genus Tornabenea has at least six species and is exclusive to these islands.
