Folhado (Viburnum treleasei)
Shrub or small tree, evergreen, highly branched, with pubescent branches. Leaves are opposite, entire, glabrous, ovate and rather blunt, up to 8 cm long and 5 cm wide. Flowers, white or pinkish-white, are arranged in eye-catching, dense terminal inflorescences. Fruits numerous, purple-blue to reddish when ripe. Endemic to the Azores and found between 200 and 900 m altitude, where it is locally common, especially in laurel (Laurus azorica) and juniper forests (Juniperus brevifolia). It appears on all the islands except Graciosa, which has suffered the most deforestation. The genus Vibernum has another species that is native to Macaronesia: V. rigidum, exclusive to the Canaries.
