Estornudera (Andryala pinnatifida)

Very variable plant, with four subspecies in the Canaries, each with a different distribution area, and leaves that differ in shape and size. A perennial herb, woody at base. Leaves are lanceolate to ovate and sinuate-pinnate to dentate or even subentire. Inflorescences have around twenty bright yellow flowers. Endemic to the Canary Islands and found on all the islands. The nominate species is the most widely distributed and found on all the central and western islands in evergreen forests, where it is very abundant, and in different types of vegetation at lower and higher levels. The subspecies A. buchiana is relegated to a few rocky areas of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, while A. preauxiana is exclusive to Gran Canaria. In Tenerife, A. teydensis is characteristic of the high montane area of Teide National Park and immediate surroundings.
