Ensaião, farrobo, saião (Aeonium glutinosum)
Perennial shrublet (up to 1 m tall), generally highly branched and sticky to the touch. Leaves obovate-spathulate, up to 12 cm long and 5 cm wide, succulent, yellowish-green, glossy and arranged in terminal rosettes. Flowers are golden, in an open panicled inflorescence that is rather sticky. Native to the archipelago of Madeira and found throughout the islands. Common on rocks and cliffs from near sea level to 1,700 m, it often grows alongside Aeonium glandulosum, also exclusive to Madeira. It is found in rocky areas as well as on stone hedges, traditional buildings and in other man-made areas.
