Cruzadilla (Hypericum reflexum)
Rather branched woody shrub, branches erect, occasionally up to 1.7 m. Leaves are somewhat triangular, long, decussate, herbaceous, generally glabrous or slightly downy, light green and up to 2.5 cm long. Inflorescences are terminal and many-flowered; flowers are light yellow. Fruits are capsules, ovoid, containing numerous tiny seeds, and brown. This native of La Gomera, Tenerife and Gran Canaria is found from 150-1,700 m, generally on ravine walls, sheer slopes and stone walls. This rupicolous species is relatively common locally and distributed over a wide range of vegetation types, from lowland Euphorbia communities to Canary pine forests.
