Chajorra reina (Sideritis macrostachys)

Small shrub, to 60-100 cm, usually rather branched, with a woody robust stem. Leaves ovate, heart-shaped at the base, with a blunt apex, crenate, greyish-green on top and whitish beneath. Very smooth to the touch and downy on both sides, but mostly beneath. The inflorescence is erect, rather short and more or less cylindrical, composed of numerous whitish flowers with brown lips. This endemic of Tenerife is closely associated with evergreen woodland and some damp thermophile habitats, usually growing on rocky surfaces from 250-1,000 m, especially in Anaga massif.
