Chajorra norteña (Sideritis kuegleriana)

Woody shrub, with candelabra-like branches, to over 1 m tall. Leaves pubescent, ovate-oblong or lanceolate, blunt, somewhat membranous, glaucous on top and whitish beneath. Branched inflorescence, with pale yellow flowers. This species is a native of Tenerife (Canaries) and shows remarkable morphological variability, as a result of growing in a wide range of habitats. Distributed in scattered populations along the northern flank of the island, generally within thermophile vegetation domains, but also on the margins of evergreen woodland and in cooler Euphorbia communities. It is essentially rupicolous and usually relegated to remote rocky outcrops and hillsides, from 100-500 m.
