Carqueja-de-Santiago (Limonium lobinii)
Evergreen shrub, to 40 cm, with numerous basal leaf rosettes. Leaves are obovate or spathulate, up to 10 cm long and 4 cm wide. Inflorescence is a spikelet up to 45 cm long, with tiny bluish-purple flowers. This rupicolous species is characteristic of the damp zones of Serra da Malagueta, in the north of Santiago, where it grows from 500-800 m, alongside many other plants that are exclusive to Cape Verde. Distribution is restricted and it has been classified as rare.
