Maravilha de Madeira (Calendula maderensis)
Perennial herb, slightly woody at base, sticky and scrambling. Leaves are obovate-spathulate, blunt or acuminate and rather fleshy. Flowers are borne singly at the tip of the stems; the heads and ligules are yellow like other annual species of the same genus found in the Mediterranean and North Africa. Typical of Madeira and the Desertas Islands, it is only common in the latter, while in Madeira, it is relegated to very few spots, such as Ponta de São Lourenço.
