Arcila (Pericallis steetzii)

Low herb (generally less than 50 cm tall), leaves broad, suborbicular, with ear-like projections at the base of the stalk. Inflorescences of numerous (7-25) flowers, with whitish or crimson-pink ligules. A native of La Gomera, it favours mainly north- and west-facing, damp evergreen and fayal-brezal firetree and heath forests, from 600-1,200 m. It is particularly abundant in Garajonay National Park and surroundings.
