Almirón (Wahlenbergia lobelioides ssp. lobelioides)
Annual, erect, up to 50 cm. Leaves are linear-lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, toothed and light green. Flowers are few, pinkish or white, and arranged in panicles. It usually grows in large groups, depending on rainfall. The subspecies W. lobeloides is native to Macaronesia and is found throughout the islands, with the exception of the Azores. Common to rocky habitats, it also appears in ravine beds and disturbed areas. Although it can grow in a broad altitude range, it is more common in low-lying and mid-altitude areas. The subspecies W. nutabunda is found in the Mediterranean.
